Accommodations:
There are many four-star hotels in Guatemala City and in Antigua and
several excellent smaller hotels in Tikal and the Rio Dulce area of
the Caribbean coast.
Both Guatemala City and Antigua boast first class Bed and Breakfasts,
and for the more budget conscious traveler there's a plethora of
choice.
Restaurants:
First class international cuisine is common place in Guatemala City
as well as in Antigua. Guatemalan traditional cooking is found in
all parts of the country, and many a professional chef has upgraded
it to gourmet standards. The ubiquitous Golden Arches, Hamburger
Royalty and Pizza Emporiums of the North American persuasion, are
also here, of course. In the Fried Chicken wars however, we are
ahead: our very own "Pollo Campero" chain of restaurants has
recently opened outlets in Houston, Los Angeles and Miami to great
acclamation from natives and Guatemalan expatriates.
